Local Fine Arts Winners Named

Students from Transylvania County and Club Women from Brevard Book and Plate Club participated in The North Carolina Greater Federation of Women's Clubs State Fine Arts competition in Salem on March 21.

Leanna Hall, a junior at Rosman High School, won first place for her performance in Drama. Kathleen Logsdon, Clubwoman, won for her "A Secret Life of Bees" Nature Craft.

Other students to place in the state competition were Johnny Hunt, 7th grade student from Brevard Middle School, third place in Watercolors; Stephanie Owen, 8th grade student from Rosman Middle School, third place in Sculptures; Candyce Norton of Rosman High School, 3rd place in Pen & Ink Drawing; and John Epps of Brevard High School, 2nd place in Computer Graphics.

All students were awarded both a ribboned certificate as well as a cash prize.
