‘King Of The Moonshiners: Lewis Redmond’ Is Library Topic

The Transylvania County Library’s Bag Lunch Arts Series continues on Tuesday, Sept. 20, at noon in the Rogow Room of Library with a presentation in support of Transylvania County’s Sesquicentennial entitled “King of the Moonshiners: Lewis Redmond.”

Dr. Bruce Stewart, assistant professor of history at Appalachian State, will discuss Transylvania county’s own moonshiner Lewis Redmond and present information from Stewart’s book about Redmond, “The King of the Moonshiners: Lewis Redmond in Fact and Fiction.”

All of the Bag Lunch programs for 2011 will have a local history or regional focus as the county celebrates its 150th birthday.

The Bag Lunch Arts Series is sponsored by the Friends of the Transylvania County Library. There is no charge to attend and the public is invited to bring along a bag lunch to enjoy during the presentation. Refreshments are provided by the Friends and include cookies provided by Friends’ volunteers and coffee from Quotations Coffee Café. For more information, call the Transylvania County Library at 884-3151.
