Local Girl Scouts Seek Adult Volunteer Leaders

 

More than 20 local girls are on a waiting list to join Girl Scouts because there aren’t enough adults to lead them. Troop 30038 recently toured Blue Ridge Bakery, learning how to decorate cakes and how a business is run. (Courtesy photo)

Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont needs caring adult volunteers to make Girl Scouting possible for more girls in Transylvania County.

“It’s an amazing experience to watch them learn and grow, and to lead them into exciting and healthy new adventures,” said troop leader Laura Smith.

Recently, Smith and Cadette Troop 30038 (ages 10-13) visited the Blue Ridge Bakery. Owner Katina Hansen not only showed the girls how to decorate beautiful cakes, but she talked to them about running a business.
