WNC Quilters

Western North Carolin Quilters will meet on Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in Hendersonville.

The evening’s speaker is Nancy Prince, a nationally-recognized, award-winning quilt artist, who will speak on thread painting. She is a published author with the American Quilter’s Society, as well as having appeared on numerous quilting shows.

Republican Club

The Transylvania County Republican Club will hold its monthly meeting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at Hawg Wild Barbecue, 91 Pisgah Highway in Pisgah Forest.

Each meeting begins with a country-style breakfast buffet for $8 payable at the door. Membership dues are $10 per year for the club.

This month the speaker will be Karen Brinson, director of the Transylvania Board of Elections. She will explain the inner workings of the Board of Elec-tions and answer questions.

The group will also hear from Chris Petrella. Petrella is a candidate for the Republican nomination for member of the U.S. House of Representatives for the 11th District of North Carolina. The candidate is a constitutional conservative Republican.

A third speaker may be Dr. Mike Beitler, candidate for N.C. Secretary of State. Beitler is a business professor at UNCG. He was undecided as of press time.
