Stolen Motor Vehicle
On May 25, there was a report of a motor vehicle theft from Cemetery Road in Pisgah Forest. A blue and white Wildfire moped valued at $500 was stolen. There is a suspect.
On May 26, there was a report of a motor vehicle theft at Cantrell Bridge on Silversteen Road. A 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant valued at $2,000 was stolen. There are no suspects.
Breaking and Entering
On May 25, there was a report of a breaking and entering at Haywood Electric on Billy Chastain Drive in Brevard. A suspect allegedly stole $3,500 in electrical wire from a building on the premises by climbing a power pole on the property.
On May 28, there was a report of a felony larceny at the Hooker Falls parking area in DuPont State Recreational Forest. Two bikes, a Giant full suspension mountain bike valued at $3,000 and a Soma mountain bike valued at $200, were reported stolen. The owners had been Biking in the area before chaining their bikes to a tree in order to hike down to the swimming area at Hooker Falls. When they returned, their bikes were missing. There are no suspects.
On May 25, there was a report of a burglary from Haley Cove Road in Cedar Mountain. A Winchester 12-gauge pump shotgun and two VHS recorders were stolen with the total value of the stolen property estimated at $250. The burglary occurred after someone kicked in the front door of the residence. No suspects are listed.
On May 25, Hobson Lee Wilson, Jr., 51, of Barnardsville, was arrested and charged with one count of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling place to keep a controlled substance, one count of felony possession of schedule I (psilocybin), one count of felony possession of a controlled substance in the jail and felony possession of cocaine. Wilson also faces misdemeanor drug charges. Bond was set at $20,500 secured.
On May 28, David Allen Owen, 28, of Lake Toxaway, was arrested and charged with one count of felony larceny, one count of breaking and entering and one count of possession of stolen property after he was found to be in possession of a lighter allegedly stolen from the Harmony Korner gas station.
