Rotary Club Of Pisgah Forest

The July 11 meeting of the Pisgah Forest Rotary Club will feature Sid Cullipher with Headwaters Outfitters. Headwaters Outfitters specializes in outdoor adventures, including kayak and canoe river trips/camping, tubing along the French Broad River, and fly fishing schools and guided trips. This breakfast meeting will be held at 8 a.m. at the Glen Cannon Country Club.

The club program chairman for the month of July is Jim Robards.

WNC Embroiderers

The Western North Carolina Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, the Laurel Chap-ter, will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 2.

The August program will focus on finishing techniques needed to complete the “Noel” holiday ornament. At the July meeting Ashley Lawrence taught the first of this two-part series concentrating on blackwork needle art.

The meeting will be held at Cummings United Methodist Church, 3 Banner Farm Road in Horse Shoe. Registration is 9:30-10 a.m. followed by a short business meeting and the program until noon. All are welcome.

WNC Knitters

The Fletcher Branch of the Western North Carolina Knitters and Crocheters for Others will meet on Monday, Aug. 13. They meet the second Monday evening of each month at Unity Center on Old Fanning Bridge Road.

This group creates handmade items which are donated to local charities. Examples of their work include winter hats for men, women and children; blankets for Project Linus; pot holders and dishcloths to Meals on Wheels; specialty afghans for Manna Food Bank; sweaters for Interfaith Ministry; etc.
