Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Shooting - Brevard NC
Sheriff David Mahoney said investigators found nothing out of the ordinary at the scene of a Sunday morning shooting in the Three Mile Knob community that left one man dead and a woman in critical condition.
“It looked just like a normal residence other than the evidence that a tragedy had occurred there,” he said.
Mahoney said investigators have begun to piece together the sequence of events that occurred around 7 a.m. Sunday, but they still have a lot of work left to do.
“We think we have a theory as to how it happened,” he said. “But we don’t have anything as of yet about the events that led up to it.”
The investigation into the attempted murder-suicide began just after 7 a.m. when Transylvania County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of a gunshot wound.
According to Mahoney, when they arrived to the residence they found 41-year-old Charlotte Ann Jones outside the residence. She had been shot multiple times.
Jones was transported to an area hospital for treatment where she remains in critical condition.
Officers then responded to her residence where they dis-covered Christopher John Glichowski, a 47-year-old male, who died as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Mahoney said.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the male and female shared the residence on Oak Ridge Road. Investigators spent most of the day and early evening Sunday combing through evidence at the residence on Oak Ridge Road.
Mahoney said he is optimistic investigators will be able to piece together more information about what happened once they are able to speak with Jones.
“We know she was struck more than once,” he said. “We know five rounds were fired at her.”
Mahoney said he was amazed she was able to get to a neighbor’s house after sustaining the injuries she did.
