Felony Arrests

On March 28, David Carlton Brown, 36, of Elkin, was indicted on 12 felony counts of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine precursors. Bond was set at $10,000 secured.

On March 28, Tracy Catherine Briggs, 40, of Brevard, was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance (morphine), one felony count of maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $12,000 secured.

On March 28, Jimmy Lee Branks, 28, of Pisgah Forest, was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance (morphine) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $10,000 secured.

On March 28, Jackson Lee Choate, 20, of Brevard, was arrested and charged with one felony count of possession with intent to sell, deliver or manufacture a schedule IV controlled substance (Adderall), one misdemeanor count of simple possession of schedule VI and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Bond was set at $10,000 unsecured.

On March 29, Hobson Lee Wilson, Jr., 52, of Barnardsville, was arrested and charged with one felony count of probation violation. Bond was set at $40,000 secured.

On March 31, Douglas Aaron Holcombe, 21, of Brevard, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony probation violation and one felony count of failure to appear. Bond was set at $10,000 secured.

Burglary

On March 27, there was a report of a burglary on Newtown Road in Rosman. Reported stolen were: a Smith & Wesson handgun valued at $800, four boxes of ammunition valued at $100, a Sony video camera valued at $500, a Sony digital camera valued at $200, a silver coin collection valued at $400, $100 in U.S. currency, an antique pocket watch valued at $200, a bracelet valued at $100 and other assorted items. No suspects were immediately identified.

On March 26, there was a report of a burglary on Sand Rock Road in Lake Toxaway. Reported stolen were: a grandfather clock valued at $200, a flat-screen television valued at $500, a wood-burning stove valued at $400, an entertainment center valued at $400, a wood-framed bed valued at $500 and a wooden chest valued at $50. Damage to the frame of the front door as a result of the burglary was estimated at $100. There is a suspect.

Larceny

On March 30, there was a report of a felony larceny from a residence on Forest Hill Road in Brevard. An estimated $1,500 in copper wiring was stolen from the garage of a home. According to the report, the garage will have to be completely rewired as a result of the theft and the damage that resulted from the theft. No suspects were immediately identified.

On March 31, a utility trailer measuring five feet by eight feet was stolen from the lawn of a residence on Jeter Mountain Road in Penrose. There are no suspects.

Breaking and Entering

On March 30, there was a report of breaking and entering to a residence on Newtown Road in Rosman. Reported stolen were: a microwave, a propane tank, a Stanley electric level, electric fence equipment, a Makita saw, a Black and Decker drill and a black lawnmower trailer. Damage to a storage building as a result of the breaking and entering is estimated at $120. A Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit tracked an unknown suspect into nearby Kantor Village, but did not successfully locate a suspect.
