County Band Students Perform At Brevard College – Rosman NC

The week of March 19-22 held an exciting musical event in Transylvania County for area band programs that participated in the annual Western District Concert Band Music Performance Adjudication, hosted by Brevard College. Many regional bands participated in this event, and Brevard College was home to over 50 bands, all from surrounding counties.

TCS is proud of our local band programs that represent our county so well, each receiving Excellent or Superior ratings from the judges at the event.

The Brevard Middle School Band, under the direction of Mr. Donnie Mulligan, performed on Wednesday, March 20, for TCS schools at a Grade III level. The BMS Band performed Gettysburg, by Eric Osterling, Eagle Mountain by Robert Sheldon, and Rites of Tamburo, by Robert W. Smith. Mr. Mulligan is proud to announce that his band earned a Superior rating in sightreading at this event, with an overall rating of Excellent.

Performing Circus Days march by Karl King, Solas Ane by Samuel Hazo, and Ignition by Todd Stalter, the Rosman Middle and High School Band is proud to announce that their first-ever attempt to perform at this Grade V level resulted in straight Superior ratings from all four judges. The Rosman Band earned straight Superior ratings the first time ever at a Grade IV music just four short years ago.
