Embroiderer’s Guild

The Laurel Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild of America, will hold its next monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. 3.

Rosemary Kostansek, chapter president, will teach the second part of the cut-work table mat. She is also teaching the techniques to create an ornament, a silhouette of a cardinal stitched on perforated paper.

The meeting will be held at Cummings United Methodist Church, 3 Banner Farm Road in Horse Shoe. Registration is 9:30-10 a.m. followed by a short business meeting and the program until noon. All are welcome.

Rotary Club Of Brevard

VISION Transylvania Program Director William J. Watson will be the featured speaker at the Rotary Club of Brevard’s noon meeting Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The meeting will be held in the Rogow Room of the Transylvania County Library, located at 212 S. Gaston St. in Brevard.

A retired international banker, Watson has been a resident of Transylvania County since 2000. He completed the VISION class in 2009 and was named the organization’s course instructor and program director in 2010.

VISION Transylvania is a collaborative effort with Blue Ridge Commu-nity College, Brevard College, Heart of Brevard and the Brevard/Transyl-vania Chamber of Com-merce. It embraces inclusiveness and strives to recruit a class that is balanced in terms of occupation, interests, race, gender, age and geography.

WNC Knitters And Crocheters

Asheville’s charity knitting and crochet group, the Western North Carolina Knitters and Crocheters for Other, will next meet Monday, Oct. 14, at New Hope Presbyterian Church at 3070 Sweeten Creek Road.

The meeting is from 7-9 p.m. All skill levels are welcome.
