Shots Fired At Party- Brevard NC

 


A fight at a private party at the VFW hall Saturday in Brevard resulted in shots fired and several arrests.

The hall had been rented out for a private birthday party, with more than 200 people attending, according to the Brevard Police Department.

At some point a verbal argument began in the hall, located on Nicholson Creek Road, and the venue was closed.

The argument escalated outside and a fistfight among four women began in the parking lot.

Shots were fired into the air to disperse the crowd and break up the fight.

No one was shot, but one woman suffered a cut from a broken liquor bottle on her left leg.

She was taken to Transylvania Regional Hospital and received stitches.

The suspect who shot rounds off in the city limits has been identified and is being charged with firing the gun within city limits. Two others were arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

In other news:

• A felony breaking and entering occurred around 8 p.m., Saturday at Excelsior Drive.

The victim told Brevard Police she had left to attend the birthday party at the VFW, and came home and found both doors to her house open.

Some items were missing, including a flat screen TV, Playstation 3, two laptop computers, one cell phone and a floor safe.

The victim told officers that there was nothing of value in the safe. The reported stolen items were worth about $1,300.

Brevard Middle School was vandalized on Saturday. City officers responded to the school burglar alarm activation.

No one was found on the school property, but police do have a suspect.

According to police reports, the suspect destroyed a birdhouse in the school media center.
