Helen Dodson Stansel, 74, of Rosman, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014.

She was the daughter of the late Paul and Denton Aiken Dodson. Her husband, Donald Calvin Stansel, preceded her in death.

She faithfully attended St. Timothy’s United Methodist Church.

She loved the great outdoors, especially walking, and spending time with her family. A wonderful mother and caring grandmother who adored her grandchildren, she led a simple but fulfilling life and was loved by all who knew her.

Surviving are her daughter, Cheryl Rice and husband, David, of Rosman; son, Roger Stansel and wife, Christy, of Pisgah Forest; sister, Hazel Powell and husband, Wendell, of Kline, S.C .; grandchildren, Hannah and Garrett Stansel, Craig Rice and wife, Christy, Becky Gravely and husband, Shannon, and Angie Rice; seven great-grandchildren and her faithful companion and walking partner, “Ellie.”

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bruner officiating.

The family received friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial followed in Galloway Memorial Park.
