Par 3 Golf Is Reasonable


Your Aug. 21 editorial correctly points out that golf has become too expensive for many middle-income families. That is generally true for regulation courses. However, an attractive alternative is the par-3 course — for many reasons.

To become a proficient golfer requires practice and instruction — both of which are available at par-3 courses. It also requires many rounds of play. New golfers, young and old, can learn the basics of golf, and seasoned golfers can hone their short-game skills. Golf does not have to be an expensive, exclusive sport.
