The Transylvania Times -

Rowe To Play At Farmers Market – Brevard NC

David Rowe

Playing selections from his new album "Postcard," which features mountain and hammered dulcimers that he built himself, local musician David Rowe will be playing at the Transylvania Farmers Market Saturday morning, Sept. 6.

For over two decades Rowe has performed regularly as hammer dulcimerist of The Miller - Rowe Consort. Together with Michael Miller on classical guitar, Rowe appeared in concerts, festivals and private events throughout the Southeast, including the first season at the Porter Center at Brevard College in September of 1998.

Other notable venues include Apple Festival, Bele Chere, Candlelight Christmas tours at Biltmore Estate, Colonial Williamsburg, Piccolo Spoleto, First Night Greenville, River Place Festival, Carolina Legends, Festifall at Walnut Grove Plantation, USCS, and Virginia Tech. The duo also appeared in a segue performance on "CBS This Morning" in 1994 and they have produced eight CDs.

With a focus on the bounty that Transylvania County has to offer, the market has more than 50 vendors offering fresh, locally-grown produce, meat, poultry, trout, eggs, honey, goat cheese, oils and vinegars, mushrooms, plants, herbs, cut flowers, baked goods (including gluten-free), jams and jellies, breakfast items like biscuits, burritos, and bagels, coffee, prepared foods, and a variety of handcrafted and artisan items from local producers. Throughout the season, the market will host weekly music and events.

The Transylvania Farmers Market is located behind Comporium at the corner of Johnson and Jordan streets and is open Saturdays from April 19 to Dec. 20, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
