More than 20 budding fashion models from Bethel 'A' Baptist Church modeled African-inspired fashions for a packed house in the fellowship hall Saturday afternoon.

Local designers Sherry Edington and Wilma Lewis designed the dresses and headwear based on African style, colors and materials.

Laura Kilgore spins around to show off the colorful red, green and purple two-piece with matching hat.

Edington, a Brevard native, learned to sew at the age of 12, taught by her aunt Bessie Rosemon and Louise Sharp.

Lewis, also a Brevard native, was taught by her mother, Selena Robinson, a renowned seamstress, at the tender age of 7.

Rockell Scott was the Mistress of Ceremonies at the event.

The models were: Tatiyanna Bussey, Jada Fletcher, Rhianna Gordon, Aniya Hemphill, Jasmin Howell, Dayshia Moore, Diamond Zanders, Terry Allen, Wanda Benjamin, Barbara Cash, Jonalyn Crite, Frances Conley, Loretta Davis, Wanda Foster, Altha Gordon, Gwen Jones, Laura Kilgore, Sheila Mooney, Janice Norman, Sharon Owens, Julissa Robinson, Talomy Vaughns and Gloria Williamson.
