Hendon Deserves Help

As I write, my heart is going out to Chaplain Willie Hendon and his wife, Julie. He’s the founder and lead Chaplain of the Chaplain Program for the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office. He oversees the volunteer program, heads up two benefit programs for officers, is on 24 hour call, helps provide emergency food and housing for released inmates and plans three Christmas programs for inmates and families each year.

He has been diagnosed with aggressive cancer, which has spread to the lymph nodes. He and his wife Julie are currently in Mexico for an alternative treatment for cancer. This requires funding. If they don’t receive financial support from the community, he will have to return without treatment.

For all Chaplain Willie Hendon is doing for the inmates, their families, as well as for the officers, please search your hearts to decide how you can help give back to help him get this alternative treatment — which is his wish. As your heart leads you, each sacrificial donation will help this goal to be realized.

Donations may be sent to Samuel’s Haven, 101 Old Hendersonville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712 (behind Wells Fargo Bank). Checks should be made out to Samuel’s Haven with “For Pastor Willie Hendon” on the memo line.
