Lady Blue Devil senior Aina Stratton joined the Scotties of Agnes Scott College in a signing ceremony last week in the Brevard High School media center.

Stratton plans to play soccer at the all-women's school, which has been approved for membership in the USA South Conference, the same league Brevard College aims to join after their transition to Division III.

A family connection between Stratton's mom, Linda Martinson, and Agnes Scott, led the player to Decatur, Ga.

"I connected with them through my mom," Stratton said. "Then I visited there and liked it. I also know some of my teammates there."

Because of her age, Stratton had her playing career cut short, but she showed improvement through three years of varsity play at the center, midfield and forward spots for Brevard.

Stratton scored three goals as a freshman; five goals as a sophomore and led the team with nine goals her junior year.

"She's a hard worker and knows the game really well," said former head coach Erik Wahus, who coached Stratton all three years.

"She grew from her first year to her last in just about every aspect of the sport," Wahus added.

Stratton said she was undecided for a major, but the Ukraine native said she will look at international studies.
