Concerns Voiced On Caldwell

This stake sits in front of Pineiro Family Practice on Caldwell Street. Business owners are concerned the widening of Caldwell Street will only disrupt traffic on the street.

Residents and business owners in Brevard are raising concerns over the widening of South Caldwell Street by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (DOT).

Construction crews have been readying the project that would create two lanes for traffic going from the Probart/Caldwell street intersection to the Rosman Highway intersection and it's drawing questions from business owners along what officials say is a heavily traveled stretch of road.

"I just don't see that it's necessary," said Judy Welch, owner of Brevard Hearing Center, which sits at 424 S. Caldwell St.
