Rosman has been the staging ground this week for the movie "The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter," starring Josh Brolin and Danny McBride.

Production trailers and crew members have been parked at the county recreation fields off the Old Rosman Highway.

The production will be shooting all over Western North Carolina, according to Tammy Hopkins, the executive director of the Transylvania Community Arts Council who also heads Film Brevard NC.

Hopkins helped scout locations for the movie in October.

The movie, according to a synopsis at imdb.com, involves "Jaden, a cool and confident sixth-grade boy, (who) is supposed to be bonding with his father on a hunting trip, but Jaden wants to do anything but!"

Brolin has starred in several well-known movies, such as "No Country for Old Men" and "Men in Black 3."

McBride is known for starring in the HBO comedy series "Eastbound & Down" and movies.

The movie, which is being directed by Jody Hill, is scheduled to be released in December of 2017.

According to County Manager Jaime Laughter, the county has a five-day contract with the movie production and is charging it $200 a day to use the recreation property.
