Area Runners Named Cross Country All-Conference – Transylvania County NC

Eliza Witherspoon WNCAC Female Runner Of The Year

Several members of the Brevard and Rosman cross country teams have been honored as all-conference selections following standout seasons.

The Brevard Blue Devils had three members of their team named all-conference.

On the boys' side, Noah Graham, a junior, received all-conference honors after a season where he finished at or near the top of most every race Brevard entered.

Graham placed first at the 2A west regionals in Morganton and finished second – just a half-second off the leader – at the state championships.

As for the Lady Blue Devils, sophomore Ava Findley and junior Eliza Witherspoon were pillars of the team and helped the squad win their first team 2A state title since 2001.

Findley finished fifth at the regional competition and 11th in the state finals.

Witherspoon placed fourth at regionals and 10th at the state championships.

For her performance, Witherspoon was named the Western North Carolina Athletic Conference Female Runner of the Year.

For the Rosman Tigers, sophomore Jonathan Ray and junior William Partin were named to the Smoky Mountain All-Conference team.

At the 1A west regionals held at Asheville Christian Academy, Ray completed the 5,000-meter course in 18:04.46, which was good for 18th place.

Partin finished not far behind with a time of 18:12.95 in 20th place.

Ray went on to compete at the state championships in Kernersville where he placed 56th out of 136 competitors, completing the 5K race in 19:10.8.
