Henson Wins GOP N.C. House Primary - Brevard NC

In the Republican primary for the N.C. House District 113, which includes Transylvania County, Transylvania resident Cody Henson defeated fellow Transylvanian Coty Ferguson for his party’s nomination.

In Transylvania, Henson received 2,847 votes to Ferguson’s 1,589.

Districtwide, Henson received 7,664 votes to Ferguson’s 4,188 votes.

“I am honored that the people of N.C. House District 113 have entrusted me to be the Republican nominee going into the November elections, and I give God the glory for it all,” Henson said when reached for comment. “I want to thank my family for all their help and support over the past few months and members of my campaign who have worked tirelessly over the past few weeks.

“Most importantly, I want to thank the people of Polk, Transylvania and Henderson counties for coming out to vote during a very important primary for our state, nation and local areas. We look forward to a good campaign going into November, and I hope to get the opportunity to meet even more people in this district, so that I can better represent (the) people.”

In November, Henson will now face Democrat and Transylvania resident Maureen Copelof, who faced no opposition Tuesday.

The District 113 seat is currently occupied by Chris Whitmire, who decided not to run again.
