Hospital Head Stepping Down; Search Now On For Her Replacement - Brevard NC

Cathy Landis

A nationwide search is underway to find a replacement for Cathy Landis, Transylvania Regional Hospital's president and chief nursing officer.

The hospital announced last week that Landis would be stepping down at the end of the month to spend more time with her family.

"While Cathy will be missed by those of us who had the joy of working alongside her, we will honor her work by ensuring that our hospital's next generation of leadership continues to have the professional skills and compassionate hearts required to serve the needs of our patients, Transylvania County and our devoted caregivers," said Roswell Bowers, chairman of the hospital's Board of Trustees.

"Thank you, Cathy, for your service and dedication," he said.

Landis has been at the hospital since August of 2014.

Hospital officials say they are looking for a replacement with a temperament and management style similar to Landis'.

A still-to-be announced interim CEO will be in place while the search for Landis' replacement goes on.

Landis' position was created as part of a restructuring process for hospital leadership throughout Mission Health, the hospital's parent company. The president and chief nursing officer role includes being accountable for nursing practice and patient care standards and active participation in the development and operations of the regional network of care.
