October 17, 2016

James McFadden, 49, of Arden, was arrested and charged Tuesday with attempting to meet a 14-year-old female for sex. McFadden was charged with felony solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

He was issued a $50,000 bond.

On Friday, Oct. 7, Transylvania County Sheriff's Office investigators became aware of predatory activity on the Internet, according to a news release from Sheriff David Mahoney.

On Tuesday, McFadden allegedly drove from Buncombe County to Transylvania County, believing he was meeting the 14-year-old to commit a sex act. McFadden was arrested in Pisgah Forest by Sheriff's Office detectives, the Brevard Police Department and N.C. State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) agents.

If anyone has information regarding suspicious on-line activity, they should notify local law enforcement.
