Woman Dies In Rosman Highway Vehicle Accident – Brevard NC

January 12, 2017

A 76-year-old woman, Dorothy Drake, died Tuesday afternoon in a wreck on the Rosman Highway, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at 3:16 p.m. at the intersection of Rosman Highway and Green Road, forcing the highway to be blocked for an hour-and-a-half, said Sgt. Brent Hipps, with the Highway Patrol.

Hipps said there were three vehicles that were stopped for utility work going on at the highway intersection.

A fourth vehicle driven by Drake failed to reduce speed and struck the rear of the last vehicle stopped, pushing each vehicle into the one in front of it.

Hipps said Drake was wearing a seat belt.

“It’s tragic,” Hipps said. “Our thoughts go out to the family and everybody involved. Speed was not a factor. I just don’t know if she saw the vehicles stopped.”

Hipps said there were two other minor injuries related to the accident.
