Steve Owen & Associates has opened a new office at 7737 Greenville Highway, just outside of Cedar Mountain, to complement its Main Street location in downtown Brevard.

The expansion plans are part of Steve Owen & Associates' ongoing commitment to being the top-selling real estate agency in Transylvania County. In 2016, the family-owned business was number one in sales in Transylvania County, closing more than $53 million, $17.5 million more than its nearest competitor.

"This has been a really fantastic year for us," said Jeremy Owen, son of company founder Steve Owen and broker-in-charge for the Main Street office. "Opening this new office is part of our commitment to offer the most comprehensive real estate services available in the county. With the growth of DuPont Forest and the upcoming plans for Headwaters State Forest, having an office on the Scenic 276 corridor is going to be a great move for both our clients and our company."

The new office is ideally located to better serve the Cedar Mountain area and many of the county's larger residential communities, including Connestee Falls, Big Hill and Sherwood Forest.

Stephen "Billy" Harris and Hesper Dickson will run the new location, while still maintaining a presence at the Main Street office. Billy's wife, Kristy, will also manage Deer Ridge Properties, a vacation rental company, from the same building.

"We're really excited about this move," said Harris. "Steve Owen has seen an incredible amount of momentum recently, and opening the new office is a great next step for us."

In the past 48 months, Harris and Dickson closed more than $61 million, and they're looking forward to their team's continued success in the new, larger office space. The new Steve Owen location includes a large conference room, private offices and plenty of parking.

"Hesper and I are also both mountain bikers, so I have to confess that we're excited to be a little closer to the DuPont Forest trails at the end of the work day," Harris said.

About Billy Harris

Harris first arrived in the United States from England in 1992 and worked eight summers as a soccer coach at summer camps in the Adirondacks in New York. After graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University in England, he set out on a 4-year adventure traveling and working his way through Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Thailand and North America before settling in Transylvania County in 2002. He spent a year working at Camp High Rocks before beginning his real estate career in Brevard and has been helping buyers find land and homes ever since.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, Billy enjoys mountain Biking, Hiking and running in DuPont and Pisgah. He also served on the Transylvania Youth Soccer Board and coaches youth soccer. Family is an important aspect of his life. Billy and wife Kristy were married at "Pretty Place" at YMCA camp Greenville in 2003 and live in Cedar Mountain with their daughters Emma, Lucy and their yellow and chocolate labs.

"I believe my success in helping buyers find the perfect property in Western North Carolina is due to enjoying what I do, caring about people and working hard," he said.

About Hesper Dickson

Born in Brevard, Dickson earned her bachelor's degree in housing and interiors from Appalachian State University in Boone. She has lived in Henderson, Buncombe and Transylvania counties, working in a variety of aspects of the construction industry, from home remodeling and design to contractor sales. She joined Steve Owen and Associates 12 years ago and enjoys working with buyers and sellers.

The new Steve Owen & Association office is located at 7737 Greenville Highway, just outside of Cedar Mountain.

"It's pretty exciting, the process of getting to know your clients, exploring the area, and helping buyers find the place that's the perfect match for them," she said. "And after you've navigated the road to closing the deal, it's rewarding to know that you've helped someone create the future that they always dreamed was possible.

"My quality of life in Brevard is pretty amazing – whether it's mountain Biking with friends and family in the forest, cooking a meal with produce from local farmers or enjoying local music. When you've lived here your whole life, it's easy to take all that for granted. That's one of the things I enjoy about my work; my clients are constantly reminding me of how lucky I am to live in Transylvania County."
