Jonlyn Marie Galloway Wilkins
February 16, 2017
Jonlyn Galloway Wilkins passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017, due to an extended illness. She was at home surrounded by family, friends and love when she peacefully passed.
She was born in Brevard, Sept. 30, 1966. She graduated from Brevard High School in 1984 and went on to attend the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she graduated with honors and earned a master’s degree in nutrition.
Following graduation, she worked at Duke University Medical Center as a clinical nutritionist and subsequently a patient resource manager. She then continued her career at Apria Health Care, where she excelled as a market manager and eventually reached the level of regional vice president of sales. Her final job was with Active Health, where she assisted in building out and supporting new and innovative health management programs.
She was a proud North Carolina mountain girl with deep family roots in the beautiful area in and around Brevard and Pisgah Forest. She lived her life, raised her children and built deep meaningful relationships based upon the strong family values and work ethic instilled in her through the examples set by her parents and grandparents. She was a strong believer in keeping stories and traditions alive through the generations and always taught her children to value their heritage and to respect those who worked hard and sacrificed before them to provide the blessings and opportunities they now enjoyed and were responsible for carrying forward.
She is survived by her husband, Scott Lewis Wilkins; her children, Jacob Scott Wilkins and McKenzie Ellen Wilkins; her parents, Ivan Victor Galloway Jr. and Ellen Schlunz Galloway; her brothers, Mark Ivan Galloway and Matthew Randall Galloway and sister, Jennifer Galloway Martin; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
