More than 200 community members and Brevard College students Monday, Presidents' Day, took part in a "anti-hate" march on the campus.

Participants marched from the Bell Tower on the campus to the Porter Center for Performing Arts.

A poster advertising the event urged participants to "Take a stand for yourself, your family, your community and your planet."

During the march, college President David Joyce read a letter from college presidents to President Trump.

The letter asks Trump, in part, to take a more forceful stand against "harassment, hate and acts of violence."

Joyce told the audiences that only six North Carolina colleges had signed the letter, so far.

He then challenged his colleagues at other schools to step up and sign the letter.

Student Government Association President Lauren Fowler also spoke Monday. "Action is our only option," she said. "We will never solve the challenges of our time unless we stand together."
