Panthers Strike Late, Steal Win From Brevard

It was a nightmare ending for the Brevard High School baseball team Friday night as the Blue Devils committed a pair of errors that allowed the Franklin Panthers to take a 5-2 lead, which they held on to for a 5-3 victory.

A two-RBI double from Kyle Williams gave Brevard the lead in the third inning.

Franklin scored in the fourth and fifth to tie things up.

With the score tied after six innings, the Panthers got the leadoff man on and moved him over with a sacrifice bunt.

Brevard then committed two straight errors resulting in one run scoring.

A single a few batters later drove to more runs in for the win.

Brevard’s record stands at 6-7. The Blue Devils hosted Tuscola on Monday.

Lady Blue Devils Drop Third Straight

It’s been a rough patch for the Lady Blue Devil softball team as Brevard lost their third straight conference game on Friday, dropping a 7-3 contest to Franklin.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead after scoring in the top of the first, but Brevard answered with runs in the second, third and fourth inning to lead 3-1.

Franklin tied things up at 3-3 in the top of the fifth before scoring four runs in the top of the seventh to earn the win.

The Lady Blue Devils have a 9-4 record. They’re tied for fourth in the WNC Athletic Conference with East Henderson at 4-4.
