Transylvania Choral Society Awards Scholarship To Claire Griffin Of BHS - Brevard, NC

Claire Griffin, a junior at Brevard High School, has been awarded the Transylvania Choral Society Scholarship for 2017. Griffin will use the award to study at the Brevard Music Center.

A voice student of Dr. Kathryn Gresham at Brevard College, this year Griffin placed first in both state and regional competitions held by the National Association of Teachers of Singing.

She has appeared in a number of musical theatre productions, which include “Bye Bye Birdie” and “Anything Goes” at Brevard High School. At Flat Rock Playhouse she has appeared in productions of “Charlotte’s Web” and “Mulan” and more recently in “Chasing Rainbows” where she played the role of Deanna Durban. She also appeared in the same production last summer and fall in Connecticut.

The Transylvania Choral Society provides an annual scholarship to local young singers or choral groups to further their musical training provide needed supplies and broaden performance experiences.
