The audience enjoys dancing to some Motown favorites in Straus Auditorium.

On Saturday, April 29, the Straus Auditorium in Brevard transformed into memories of Motown. DJ Marcus Lester (Class and Sound Entertainment) recaptured the classic Motown mood, playing songs by The Temptations, Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and more.

Guests also enjoyed a rare appearance of "The Blues Brothers," (entertainer Blake Anthony Ellege and Brevard Police Chief Phil Harris), sumptuous cuisine from Mayberry's, a fun take-off on Aretha Franklin's "Think," and a beautifully sung "Change is Gonna Come" by Brevard resident Keith Norman.

The speech by Rise & Shine alumni Darren Conley challenged the audience to pull together in their support of Rise & Shine, an organization that he said, "brings our community together."

All of this was possible due to the leadership and dedication of event chairman Maureen Copelof and dedicated Rise & Shine Event Team.

Copelof said, "We had three goals for Motown Memories: create an event that people would enjoy, help spread the message about Rise & Shine to more people and raise money. We accomplished all three. It was a strong team effort with people stepping up to help when needed that made this event successful."
