Officials React To Proposed State Budget

As of this morning, the Republican-controlled N.C. Legislature’s roughly $23 billion budget faces a likely veto from Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper and an equally likely override from lawmakers.

Cooper and most fellow Democrats have attacked the budget agreement, calling it irresponsible and a failure because it doesn’t provide enough education funding and gives tax cuts to the wealthy and to corporations.
