Embroiderers Guild

The Laurel Chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild America will hold it next monthly meeting on Thursday, Aug. 3.

The program will be a Show-in-Tell and a Stitch-In. Chapter members will show their completed needle art projects and then spend time stitching on their current work.

The chapter meets at Cummings United Methodist Church, 3 Banner Farm Road in Etowah/Horse Shoe. Registration is from 9:30 to 10 a.m. followed by a short business meeting and the program until noon.

Ikenobo Ikebana

The Ikenobo Ikebana Society, Blue Ridge Chapter, will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Hendersonville, located at 1735 Fifth Ave. West in Hendersonville.

Emiko Suzuki Sensei of Hendersonville will present a demonstration of “Rikka Shofutai Converting to Rikka Shimputai.”

WNC Knitters And Crocheters

The Western North Carolina Knitters and Crocheters for Others will meet on Monday, Aug. 14, at New Hope Presbyterian Church, located at 3070 Sweeten Creek Road in Asheville.

Over the past 10 years the group has created and donated more than 20,000 handmade items to local charities. The group makes afghans, dishcloths, pot holders, knitted dolls, hats, scarves, mittens, kids and stuffed sweaters, plus baby blankets, booties, and sleep sacks.
