Ruth Wilson Cairnes, 77, of Candler, formerly of Transylvania County, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 10, 2017.

A native of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Maggie Stamey Wilson and the wife of the late Clyde Owen Cairnes.

She was a very active member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she was a greeter. She loved to meet people, shake their hands and love on them. She was also active in the church’s Golden Hearts (nursing home ministry).

Survivors include her son, Tony Cairnes, and wife, Cara, of Knoxville, Tenn .; sisters, Katherine Allison and husband, Clyde, of Cherokee, N.C., Edith Reed and husband, Ronnie, of Campobello, S.C .; brothers, Paul Wilson, of Atlanta, Ga., and Bud Wilson and wife, Trish, of Campobello; granddaughter, Ashley Cairnes, of Knoxville; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 14, 2017, in the chapel of Trinity Baptist Church, with Rev. Allen Rash, Rev. Davis Plemmons and Rev. Donnie Walker officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Boylston Baptist Church Cemetery in Mills River.
