A Sad Exception

I appreciated the follow-up articles on health care by Matt McGregor, triggered I presume by Meredith Brooks’ letter about high out-of-pocket costs at our Transylvania Regional Hospital. Unhappily, my head was left spinning, though I did gather that Meredith was correct. My hat is off to anyone who can understand what all the technical, acronym-filled talk was about. One thing was clear: We consumers of health care do not even have a faint chance of helping to curb health costs – except by doing without.

The other thing that is clear was that the system is really not about us poor...
