Some National Forest Roads, Areas Remain Closed-Brevard NC

The U.S. Forest Service has reopened most recreation areas and roads on the National Forests in North Carolina.

Damage assessments are ongoing following Hurricane Irma. Some areas and roads were impacted heavily and will remain temporarily closed until they can be safely reopened.

Visitors should continue to take precautions. Be aware of the potential for rising water and falling trees and limbs. Low lying areas are especially vulnerable to rapidly rising and swift water and should be avoided during and after major storm events.

The following National Forest System Roads and recreation areas will remain temporarily closed until further notice:

Pisgah National Forest

Appalachian Ranger District

NFSR #74 Stony Fork Road

NFSR #63 Big Ivy Road

Nantahala National Forest

Tusquitee Ranger District

NFSR #351 Nelson Ridge Road

Nantahala Ranger District

NFSR #367 Little Yellow Mountain Road

Cliffside Recreation Area, including Van Hook Glade Campground

Standing Indian Campground
