Mary Hannah Elswick, 36, passed from her earthly life to peace, healing and wholeness, Sept. 8, 2017, at her home in Asheville.

She never knew a stranger, was extremely generous and had a great love of nature and all of God’s creations.

Born in Glenwood Springs, Colo., she moved as a young child to Western North Carolina, graduated high school in Morehead City on the coast, held a B.S. degree in social work from Western Carolina University and was pursuing graduate studies in social work, hoping to work in the field of substance abuse and addiction treatment.

She was the granddaughter of the late Edward and Mary Conner, of Pisgah Forest.

She will be missed by her mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Richard Jocelyn, of Pisgah Forest; daughters, Jonah Elswick and Sophia Purick; brothers and sisters, Alison Thompson, of Adrian, Mich., Jordan James, of Salt Lake City, Utah, Luke Elswick, of New Castle, Colo. and Bronwyn Elswick, of Wilson, Wyo .; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, scattered around the globe.

Her infectious smile and great sense of humor will be missed also by her many friends and acquaintances.

The family will hold a memorial celebration of life at a future date yet to be announced.
