Transylvania Democratic Women

The three Democratic candidates for Brevard City Council, Maureen Copelof, Jessica Gallagher and Mac Morrow, will meet with the Transylvania County Democratic Women’s Club on Monday, Sept. 25, to discuss the important issues facing Brevard.

Copelof served on active duty in the U.S. Navy for 30 years, retiring as a captain. She has lived in this community for 25 years and held leadership positions in several community organizations.

Gallagher is business manager at Platt Architecture where she manages special projects. She earned her J.D. cum laude from Lewis and Clark Law School. She is a member of the N.C. State Bar and the N.C. Bar Association, a voluntary professional group.

Morrow is a life-long resident of Brevard where he has been general manager of KEIR manufacturing since 1999. He has served on the Brevard City Council for 25 years and is a current member.

The meeting will be held in the rear room at Twin Dragons Restaurant, beginning with a self-paid lunch at 11:30 a.m. followed by the program at noon and a brief business meeting. This meeting is open to the public.

Rotary Club Of Pisgah Forest

For its Sept. 27 meeting, the Rotary Club of Pisgah Forest’s guest speaker will be Hunter Marks, president of the Ecusta Trail. The presentation will be an update on the Ecusta Trail effort.

For the month of September the speaker chair is Martine Stolk and the Rotary International theme for the month is basic education and literacy.

The public is always welcome to attend the breakfast meetings, listen to the guest speakers, and share a friendly, enjoyable and delicious buffet breakfast at the Pisgah Fish Camp every Wednesday at 8 a.m.
