Tornados' Soccer Team Drops Pair Of Weekend Matches - Brevard, NC

Brevard men’s soccer could not complete the late comeback, as they lose to Methodist 3-2 Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Tornados to 1-3 on the 2017 season.

Scoring began in the 17th minute, as Methodist’s Isaac Sanchez scored on a free kick from outside of the box.

In the second half, the Monarchs added another goal to their lead as Zvi Ferrari found the back of the net in the 52nd minute.

Less than a minute later, the Tornados cut the lead in half from a goal by Jorge Jimenez, his fourth goal of the season.

In the 70th minute, Methodist’s Connor Morris scored from inside the box to make the score 3-1.

Brevard tried to mount a comeback late in the game, as Jesse Omezi drilled a penalty kick in the 87th minute.

The Tornados had one last-ditch shot from Gabriel Venegas, but the shot went wide of the net.

Fall To Berea 3-0 On Sunday

Brevard men’s soccer dropped their third straight match of the season at the hands of N.C. Wesleyan Sunday afternoon 3-0.

The loss drops Brevard to 1-4-0 on the season, as they were swept in their first of four back-to-back matches of 2017.

Brevard was outshot by N.C. Wesleyan 27-14 on the day, and were shut out for the third time this season.

The scoring began in the 28th minute, as Baboucarr Njie found the back of the net on an unassisted goal.

In the second half, Ignacio Lerech scored in the 59th minute off an assist from Paa Malick Faal to make the score 2-0.

The Battling Bishops added one more goal on the match from Sheriff Secka in the 80th minute.

The Tornados will return to action Sept. 30, when they host Berea.
