Local State Farm Collects Letters To Veterans - Brevard, NC

November 2, 2017

Meredith Baldridge State Farm, a local insurance company, has announ-ced that they will be collecting letters, drawings and cards to send to U.S. veterans and active service members in honor of Veterans Day.

Letters may be dropped off any day during regular business hours at Meredith Baldridge State Farm, 123 E. Main Street. Letters will be accepted until Friday, Nov. 17. Once they have been collected, the letters will be shipped to Operation Gratitude in Chatsworth, Calif. for distribution.

Baldridge, whose husband is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force, said, “Saying thank you to our service men and women is one small way to give back for all the sacrifices they have made. My hope is to send a huge box filled with well wishes, encouragement and thanks from the residents of Transylvania County.”

There is no typical letter according to Operation Gratitude, an organization that sends more than 200,000 care packages a year. The most popular items in the care packages are the letters of thanks written by grateful Americans of all ages. Some messages are a single sentence long, some go on for a full page or more, and others are little more than a sweet drawing and a heartfelt “Thank you.”

More information about Operation Gratitude and the letter writing program can be found on their website: http://www.operationgratitude.com. Questions about the local letter writing collection can be directed to Team Baldridge at 883-8179.
