Donated Supplies Sought For Puerto Rico-Brevard NC

Transylvania County residents have a chance to help their fellow American citizens by donating needed supplies

Puerto Ricans are still working hard to rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Maria’s destruction. The Teachers Federation of Puerto Rico is one organization that is assisting in the distribution of supplies to people in need.

Local resident and El Centro volunteer Kiersten Wilber is travelling to Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving to bring supplies and assist the Federation in their efforts.

The Teacher's Federation of Puerto Rico requests the following supplies:

•Baby formula

•Batteries (AA, AAA, D)

•School materials

•Insect repellent

•Anything solar-powered, or small solar panels

•Battery operated fans



•Canned food

To donate, bring supplies to El Centro Hispano-Americano (249 E. Main St. in Brevard behind the Presbyterian Church) at the following times:

•Today, Nov. 9, between 3:30-5 p.m.

•Monday, Nov. 13, between 3:30-5 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 20, between 4:30-6 p.m.
