William Dienes

William Dienes, 94, of Pisgah Forest, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Czako Dienes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Dienes; brothers, Ladd Dienes, John Dienes and Paul Dienes; and also his sisters, Betty MacCurdy and Rose Dienes.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II.

The family moved to Brevard in 1973. He worked at the N.A.S.A. Tracking Station in Rosman before transferring to White Sands, N.M. until retirement.

His hobbies included fishing, bowling and tinkering with various do-it-yourself projects around the house.

He is survived by his children, Marilyn Huamanchumo, of Indian Trail, N.C. and Tim Dienes, of Charlotte, N.C .; grandson, Mike Jones, of New York, N.Y .; and his sister, Emma Frenchak, of Burton, Ohio.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2017, at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, with Pastor Mary Shore officiating.

Graveside services will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The N.C. National Guard and the Transylvania County Honor Guard will perform military rites.
