Shingles Update To Be Held At Silvermont Opportunity Center - Brevard, NC

A team of student pharmacists from Wingate University School of Pharmacy in Hendersonville will present new shingles information at Silvermont Opportunity Center. Student pharmacists will present the information as part of a community health outreach program that addresses current public health issues. The seminar will be held on March 7 at 10 a.m.

Associate professor of pharmacy and clinical pharmacist, Michelle DeGeeter, PharmD, BCACP, CDE will accompany the students during the seminar.

This seminar will address the current public health concern of the shingles virus. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has recently updated guidelines that include a new vaccine for the prevention of shingles. The presentation will address what shingles is, the vaccine who is eligible for the new vaccine, and where a vaccine can be obtained.

This presentation is open to the public and specifically targets those 50 and older; however, everyone is welcome to learn about the current public health concern.

A free blood pressure cuff will be raffled off at the end of the presentation.

This seminar will be held at Silvermont Opportunity Center located at 364 E. Main St., in Brevard on March 7 at 10 a.m. Call the center at 884-3166 to reserve your seat.
