Well, Well, Well

March 5, 2018

Granted, the investigations are not over, but the recent indictments of the Russians dealt a blow to those clinging to the hope that the first indictments would be against Trump and his administration.

It’s interesting that the Russian meddling in our elections is such a surprise. And, guess what? It’s never mentioned that the United States has a history of meddling in foreign elections. The research reveals that there are 100 examples of such meddling between 1946 and 2000. The conclusion of many seems to be that we are not complicit in the global meddling game.

Most people are aware of our meddling in the elections in Israel when President Obama went to great lengths to defeat Netanyahu, but most have forgotten that in the year 2000 we not only meddled, but spent substantial money to support the overthrow of a candidate in Yugoslavia. To refresh your memory, we supported an effort to oust Milosevic and support Kostunica. Our Congress appropriated $40 million to help fund the effort. The very liberal Washington Post called it, “An extraordinary U.S. effort to unseat a foreign head of state.”

So, it’s more than evident that everyone meddles as a normal course of action. Let’s don’t be so self-righteous and act like we never participate in shady activities. We sure do.
