Rosman freshman Hope Taylor threw a complete game in her first varsity start Friday against Swain County. Taylor pitched 11 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits.

The one-run losses that gave the Rosman Lady Tigers fits last season reared its head again Friday night as Rosman put together two late game rallies, only to fall to Swain County 6-5 in a 12-inning contest.

After Swain struck for one run in the top of the first, Rosman answered back with a run in the bottom of the second.

From there, the game settled into a stalemate until the seventh inning when Swain got a solo home run from Kenzie Eagleman to go ahead 2-1.

Needing one run to stay alive, Ashlyn Dodson doubled and scored moments later on a double from Abby Rice.

After a scoreless eighth inning, Eagleman delivered again in the top of the ninth, this time crushing a two-run homer to put Swain up 4-2.

Once again, with their back to the wall, the Lady Tigers responded.

Emma Galloway doubled and scored on another hit from Dodson.

Freshman Hope Taylor delivered with an RBI hit moments later, tying things up at 4-4.

The game continued on as the sun set and the wind picked up.

Junior second baseman Avery McNeely fields a short grounder in the fifth inning. The Tigers played at Hayesville on Monday and travel to Hiwassee Dam on Thursday.

In the top of the 12th, with runners on second and third, the Lady Tigers intentionally walked Eagleman, but the very next batter came through with a single to right field that drove two runs across the plate and put Swain back ahead 6-4.

And while they kept battling until the end, Rosman was unable to come up with their third rally of the night.

They managed to cut the lead in half and got a baserunner to second with two outs, but couldn't come up with the final hit they needed.

Taylor pitched the entire game for Rosman, giving up five earned runs on eight hits while striking out five batters.

Four Lady Tigers, Kaitlin Connor, Dodson, Galloway and Taylor had two hits each.

Rosman has three road conference games this week, playing at Hayesville on Monday, at Hiwassee Dam on Thursday and at Cherokee on Friday.
