Rosman Comes Away

With Sweep Of Hayesville

The Rosman Tiger baseball team continued their red-hot start to the season while the Lady Tiger softball team picked up their first win of the year at Hayesville on Monday.

The Tigers broke the 10-run mark for the second time as they beat the Yellowjackets 11-0 in five innings.

Parker Mullen was the star of the show as he finished the day 3-for-4, with three RBIs and nearly went the distance on the mound, throwing 4 2/3 scoreless innings.

Through two games, Mullen already has 10 RBIs on the year and Rosman has outscored opponents 32-1.

Kameron Newman and Tanner Ballard finished with two RBIs each.

Rosman’s record stands at 2-0.

As for the Lady Tigers, they used a four-run seventh inning to secure a 7-2 victory.

Alicia Guinn and Abby Rice led the way at the plate, as both finished with two RBIs.

Rice also led the team with three hits, as Rosman combined for 12 hits on the day.

Hope Taylor went the distance in the circle, earning the first varsity win of her career after giving up two earned runs on five hits.

The Lady Tigers are now 1-1. Both teams play Thursday on the road at Hiwassee Dam.

Lady Blue Devils

Beat Swain 6-2

The Brevard girls’ soccer team moved to 2-0 on Monday, with a 6-2 win on the road at Swain County.

Reagan Eggleston and Chloe Riess scored in the first half to give the Lady Blue Devils a 2-0 halftime advantage.

Eggleston struck again just minutes into the second half to make it 3-0.

The Maroon Devils answered with a goal of their own, but Eggleston came back and scored again to lock up the hat trick.

Brevard tacked on two more second half goals from Zoe Mihalas to pull away for the win.

The Lady Blue Devils hosted Mountain Heritage on Wednesday and travel to Mitchell on Friday.

Posts Second Place Finish

The Brevard boys’ golf team opened their season Monday with a four-team, nine-hole match at Waynesville Country Club.

Brevard came away shooting 153 as a team, just two strokes behind Tuscola, who finished first.

Pisgah posted a 157 and Franklin came in last with a 173.

Individually, Will Byrd posted the low score for Brevard, shooting a 34 to finish one under par.

Other scores for Brevard include: Graham Phillips (38), Hank Hardesty (39), Austin Nale (42) and Ryan Chesna (42).

Brevard hosted another nine-hole match Wednesday at Connestee Falls.
