The Master Gardeners have created and maintained four demonstration gardens located throughout Transylvania County that highlight the plants and gardening styles that do well in this area.
While the gardens are always open to the public, the Master Gardeners would like to extend a special invitation to visit and tour these gardens on Thursday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to noon. Each garden will have hosts available to show you around, discuss the gardens and answer questions.
There is no set route or schedule for visiting the gardens, so stopping by in any order is fine. Visitors can visit all of the gardens or just those that are of particular interest.
The four gardens include:
The pollinator gardens and Monarch way station at the Pisgah Forest Ranger Station, located at 1600 Pisgah Hwy (276-North) in Pisgah Forest.
The historical medicinal and dye herb gardens at the Allison Deaver House, located at 2753 Asheville Hwy. in Pisgah Forest.
The gardens of Silvermont including the vegetable, herb, pollinator and woodland gardens behind the Silvermont Mansion, located at 264 E. Main St. in Brevard.
The rain gardens at the Transylvania County Library, located at 212 S. Gaston St. in Brevard.
This event is free and snacks and water will be provided. The rain date for this event is Thursday, June 30. For more information call the Cooperative Extension at (828) 884-3109.
