The White Squirrel is back. Louise Stroup has again teamed up with illustrator Helen Nagan and created another mission for Brevard's white squirrel.

Last fall he was in the role of celebrating the "Twelve Days of Christmas" in Brevard and Transylvania County.

Now the white squirrel returns in the role of an information/tour guide providing ideas and activities for enjoying Brevard and Transylvania County all year long, January through December.

The book's goal is to answer the question, "What should I do in Brevard and Transylvania County?"

The book provides a myriad of choices for those seeking to explore, experience and enjoy the area.

As they explore, they are encouraged to enjoy and "Leave it Better."

All profits from this book will benefit The Children's Center in Brevard.

The agency provides services for children who are at risk for neglect or abuse in Transylvania County.

The center serves as a safe place for children to be with an estranged parent or be away from a neglectful or abusive situation. It also supports foster children and families, and mentors at risk-mothers. As the book was written during the pandemic, some of these activities, facilities and events may have been changed to reflect healthy practices.

These activities are available during "normal" times, so if something is not available now, come back for another visit.

The book will be for sale at local businesses around town and in the community. These include: The Hub, The White Squirrel Shoppe, Main Street Ltd, O.P. Taylors, D.D. Bullwinkel's Outdoors, Rocky's Corner Market, The Children's Center, the Cradle of Forestry, the Pisgah Ranger Station and Highland Book Store.
