Mark Stephen Bennett, 53, passed away unexpectedly Jan. 31, 2023 in Lubbock, Texas.
Born Nov. 29,1967 in Hendersonville, he was the son of the late Betty Jo Powell Bennett and the late Charles Donald Bennett Sr.
He is survived by his brothers, Dan Bennett (Mary Jane), of Brevard and Wayne Burdette (Bonnie), of Brunswick, Ga.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles (Chuck) Bennett Jr.
He was a 1986 graduate of Brevard High School where he was a scholar athlete. He attended King College on a baseball scholarship before transferring to Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., where he graduated in 1992 with a BA in finance and a minor in music.
He had a passion for deep philosophical reading and playing his acoustic Taylor guitar. He had a kind and troubled soul that sought out the hard questions in life while trying to sort out his own. His best memories were of his time in Italy traveling with his then wife, Shawn, searching out art and wine. His best friend, Roy, kept him focused as best he could with the many unseen thoughts that troubled him.
His mantra was “To participate in the betterment of all sentient beings through the loving kindness practice of yoga and meditation.”
