Jan. 4 Targeted for Jail Groundbreaking


A tentative groundbreaking date has been set for Jan. 4 for construction of Transylvania County's new public safety complex and which is expected to take 18 months to complete.

M.B. Kahn Construction, which was awarded the roughly $17 million contract to build the Morris Road complex, is no stranger to jail construction.

The company is experienced in small and large jail construction projects in many parts of the Eastern United States, according to Dan Mace, the project architect with Moseley Architects of Charlotte.
