Mrs. Doris Postman, 80, of Anderson, S.C., wife of the late William "Bill" Postman, PhD., died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Born in Jersey City, N.J. on July 21, 1927, Postman was the daughter of the late Edward Bur-ton Ahrens and Mary Rose Ahrens. She was a graduate of Grady School of Nursing in At-lanta, Ga. Postman was a registered nurse, having worked at Grady Memorial Hospital, the Veterans Hospital in Atlanta, Ga. and the Anderson Memorial Hospital in Anderson, S.C. for many years. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her three children, Valerie Jill Postman Podet and her husband, Rabbi Allen Podet, of Buffalo, N.Y., Mary Lynn Nation and her hus-band, Don McKay, of Girdwood, Alaska, and Laura Lee Nation-Atchison and her husband, David Atchison, of Pell City, Ala .; and sister, Rosalie Galloway, of Brevard. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home, An-derson, S.C. conducted by the Rev. Dr. Martin L. Harkey and Rabbi Allen Podet. Serving as pallbearers are David Atchinson, David Brown, Lee Galloway and Joe Hall.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately follow the service.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at Pisgah Gardens.
The family will be at the residence.
